Star Boy artiste L.A.X shuts down Europe over the Nigerian Independence Weekend

L.A.X started his much anticipated debut Europe Tour in Stockholm, Sweden with a bang, where he was first invited to lunch by Mrs Jane Ada Ndem the Nigerian Ambassador to Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland (Scandinavia) before entertaining his fans later that night at En Globe Arena in Stockholm City Central.

The CARO train then moved to Hamburg, Germany where he also thrilled fans and the weekend wind up in Netherlands port city of Rotterdam where L.A.X stunned his fans on Saturday with his hits tracks – GINGER, CARO, FINE BOY, MORENIKE & other unreleased tracks off his forthcoming debut album.

The Tour DJ (DJ Ike) and Tour Hype Man (Mc Zion) were Gingered with LAX style on Stage. Also performing was UK based RnB and Afrobeat singer, MelRouge who opened for the Man of the moment that is creating waves in Europe L.A.X.

L.A.X Europe Tour next stop is Berlin on the 10th of October, Venue: (Huxleys Neue Welt) where he will be performing with Star Boy Boss Wizkid.

Ebola Alert : 10 people quarantined as patient dies of suspected Ebola disease symptoms in Calabar

10 persons have been quarantined in Calabar, Cross River state after a patient at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, UCTH died of symptoms of the deadly disease yesterday October 7th.

At a press conference this evening, the Chairman of Medical Advisory Committee of the hospital, Dr. Queeneth Kalu, made the revelation and said necessary steps have been taken to contain the spread of the suspected viral disease.

She said the blood samples have been sent to the Ebola Diagnosing Centre in Benin Edo State for proper diagnosis.

“On Wednesday, 7th October, 2015, we managed a patient who presented with symptoms mimicking viral hemorrhage (Ebola Virus) and have decided to take the necessary measures” she said

She said those who have been quarantined include the nurses who attended to the patient and those who came in contact with him before his death. She also stated that the National Centre for Disease Control, Federal Ministry of Health, The Cross River State Government, Calabar Municipality, and the Department of State Security Services, DSS have all been informed of the development.

Senate gives conditions for screening ministerial nominees

The senate at today's plenary session resolved that all ministerial nominees must have the endorsement of 2 senators from their state before they could be granted a pass during their screening.

Chairman of the Senate ad hoc committee on Media and Publicity, Dino Melaye who announced the new conditions today, said the upper legislative arm will also adopt other constitutional provisions and conventions for screening nominees.



He said the Senate would also apply Section 147 of the Nigerian constitution which states that a ministerial nominee must be an indigene of one of the 36 states of the federation, before that person can be screened.

Melaye however did not state what will be the outcome if a ministerial nominee fails to get the support of 2 senators from their state of origin. It appears former River state governor, Rotimi Amaechi may be having a tough time at the senate with this new condition as all 3 PDP senators from his state have expressed their opposition against his nomination.

In a related development, some of the minsiterial nominees have reported to the Nigeria Police Headquarters for profiling as directed by President Buhari. Those that have reported so far includes former Lagos state governor Babatunde Fashola, Audu Ogbe, Chris Ngige, Udoma Udo Udoma and Abubakar Malami.

Buhari rules out second term for Lamorde

There is speculation that the tenure of the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mr. Ibrahim Lamorde may not be renewed after his current 4 year tenure.

According to a top Presidency source on Thursday, President Buhari would not renew Lamorde’s tenure after it expires..

According to Punch, the official said:

“The impression is that the commission under Lamorde has been sleeping since. Their recent publicised activities are seen as just ways of impressing the President and the man (Buhari) cannot be fooled,”.

The source however said it was not clear yet who the President is considering to take over from Lamorde.

According to media reports, Lamorde is currently being investigated over alle­gations of diversion of over N1tn from the sale of confiscated properties that belonged to convicted public officials.
 

Lamorde said:

“The President does not need to order a probe of what is already a subject of the Senate’s investigation.

“Since the man is leaving office next month, it is natural that politics of succession would have started and that may be responsible for the reports.

“Those who think the President may be considering a renewal of tenure for him will naturally come up with such reports,” he added.

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina said he had no information on the matter when he was asked on Thursday.

Beyoncé, Jay Z, Rihanna, Kanye West, and Pharrell sue fashion brand for using their names without permission

Five of the biggest names in music are taking legal action against a clothing retailer over claims that the brand did not seek their approval before using their names, lyrics, and photos on their products.

Beyoncé, her husband Jay Z, Rihanna, Kanye West, and Pharrell Williams have all filed a lawsuit against the French clothing company Eleven Paris, alleging that the trendy retailer unlawfully sold merchandise with their likeness or intellectual property.

 The lawsuit, which was filed in New York on Tuesday, cites 58 alleged violations including a T-shirt that says Kanye is My Homie, a backpack that says RiRi and includes her birth year, and a shirt including Beyoncé's song lyrics: 'A diva is a female version of a hustler.'

The suit claims that the plaintiffs have even sent the brand written warnings, but they were still selling 'dozens of infringing merchandise' at their New York City store as of the day of filing.

One of the brand's most popular designs features pictures of celebrities - including Beyoncé, Rihanna, Kanye, and Pharrell - digitally altered to include fingers with mustaches drawn on them held in front of their faces.

The stars allege that these products do damage to their brands, and requests that Eleven Paris stop selling the offending products and pay damages.

While none of the plaintiffs have publicly worn the Eleven Paris' clothing in the past, the brand is a favorite among some celebrities - including a few of the suing stars' relatives.

Klopp: I don't want Ronaldo or Messi

The new Anfield boss has indicated he does not need the two most recent Ballon d'Or winners and promised his new charges that hard work starts now

New Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp insists he is happy with the squad at his disposal and is not looking for a "dream" signing of Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo .

Klopp has replaced Brendan Rodgers at Anfield as Liverpool look to bounce back from a disappointing start to the season, in which they have won just three Premier League games.

Rodgers was heavily criticised in some quarters for the club's transfer dealings over the past 18 months but Klopp is adamant the ingredients for success are there - provided they have the work-rate to match.

The former Borussia Dortmund manager insisted he is happy with the Liverpool squad, suggesting he would not want the two most recent Ballon d'Or winners and letting his new players now that the hard work starts now.

"Now we start work. I'm not a dream man, I don't want to have Cristiano or Lionel and all these players in one team," Klopp told  LFCTV . 

"I want these guys [the current squad], it was a decision for these guys. Now we start working."

Speculation has persisted that Klopp had reservations over working with Liverpool's much-discussed transfer committee but the former Borussia Dortmund boss insists he has no fears over their working relationship, indicating his belief that discussion around transfers can be a positive thing for a club.

"It's a really funny thing," he added. "It was absolutely no problem between [club owners] FSG and myself, we talked about this. It's nothing. If two smart, intelligent, clever guys sit together on a table and you both want the same, where can be the problem?

But Klopp did warn the club that he would require the final say on all dealings, with the manager being given first refusal on all player sales and purchases. 

"I don't want to spend money the club doesn't have, I don't want to hold a player that doesn't want to stay," he continued.

"I have to work all day with these guys. Nobody will sell a player I want to work with, even if it's a good deal. Nobody wants to transfer a player without my 'yes'. So everything is okay, I don't need more."

And the 48-year-old Swabian remained optimistic about the squad at his disposal, regardless of any future transfr dealings, praising the players' speed and technical ability.

"I'm here because I believe the potential of the team. I see the team and think everything is good," the new Liverpool manager said.

"At this moment we're not the best team in the world, but who cares? We want to be the best team in the world. We have some problems and we have to solve them.

"We have speed and technical ability. The first game is Tottenham and we have to make a team for this game

Serena Williams and Drake deny engagement rumors

While we all  that Serena Williams and Drake have been dating, OK Magazine started a whole new round of celeb gossip on Thursday with the news that the two were now engaged. Even though no confirmation was given for the tabloid report, social media went crazy about the rumor and started to announce the couple’s supposed engagement.

They added:

'She said yes but they want to keep it on the down-low for now.

The Madueke family release statement on Diezani's travails

The Truth Versus The Media Hysteria Against The Madueke Family

1. In this era of cyber terrorism, decency dictates that one should respond to false and defamatory allegations with silence. But there is a limit to how much any reasonable person can bear the tactics of these cyber terrorists. We all know that what makes a lie fly is the little truth contained therein. This happens to be the weapon used by most online news media to feed their weird obsession with defaming highly placed people.

2.   The Madueke family is appalled at the ongoing media frenzy against Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke by a section of the mass media following an invitation to her by the British authorities last Friday for reasons which have yet to be disclosed. For the avoidance of doubt, the family would like to state categorically that it has no issues with any persons from the family being invited anywhere in the world to answer questions about their private or official conduct. The Madueke family believes in law and order, honour and due process.

3.   However, it is clear that here is  a deliberate and vicious campaign to demonise members of the Madueke family, with all manner of frivolous allegations. For example, an online news media gleefully published that Mr. Ugonna Madueke “owns at least three properties in the United States.” It even called the properties “POSH” and went on to state the addresses. THEY LIED.

4.   Mr. Ugonna Madueke has NO PROPERTY ANY WHERE in the United States and has NEVER OWNED ONE. The USA is a country which runs on transparency, accountability and technology. A little honest effort by the online news media would have provided in a few minutes the true ownership of the properties at issue.

5.   For historical accuracy, the Madueke family avers without any fear of contradiction that 11711 Scooter Lane (a three bedroom town house) in Fairfax, Virginia, was acquired by the Madueke family in 1997 when Ugonna was only 10 years old. Ugonna’s siblings lived in this property while attending George Mason University in Virginia, USA. Records available to the appropriate authorities in the United States can also show that 13116 Silver Maple Court in Bowie, Maryland, USA belongs to an uncle of the Madueke siblings and was purchased in 1995 when Ugonna was only 8 years old. As a student of the University of Maryland in 2002, Ugonna stayed with his uncle at the said address. All of this was before Mrs. Diezani was appointed to government office. No Madueke or a distant relation has anything to do with the ownership of No. 4227 Summit Manor Court in Virginia.

6.   It is evident that what the online news media did was to turn on an internet search engine and maliciously reported that every property where Ugonna Madueke has ever lived in the United States or used as his address must belong to him. The description of the properties as POSH was the icing on the propaganda cake. This is not only unprofessional, as it offends the tenets of journalism, it is clearly not in resonance with good conscience.

7.   The online news media also reported that Ugonna and his cousins registered a company by name Hadley Petroleum Solutions Limited which they have been using to deal in Nigerian crude oil sales. As young men bubbling with enthusiasm and fantasy, they registered a company but after two years of no jobs, the company folded up. The company never had a bank account, let alone being a trader of Nigeria’s crude oil. They lied.

8.   The online news media took its campaign to the in-laws of the Maduekes. It claimed that Mrs. Beatrice Agama, the 81 year old mother of Mrs. Diezani Madueke, owns a house in the United Kingdom. A LIE! Mrs. Agama has no house or property in the United Kingdom. She has been staying in a rented two-bedroom flat from where she is receiving medical attention for a broken femur. Her son, Timi Agama who has been living in the UK for decades, used to have a house in the UK long before his sister was appointed to government and he sold it long ago. Since then, he has no house in the UK. Archbishop Doye Agama of the Apostolic Pastoral Congress in Manchester, who is in his 60s, is a successful professional and consultant well known amongst his peers, but he does not own Unit 8 Quebec Building in Manchester which the online newspaper ascribed to him.

9.   As though to outdo the sensational allegations in the online publication, the mainstream media in Nigeria has been alleging that Mrs. Diezani attempted to purchase a property on Hyde Park Street in London for a whooping amount which embarrassingly ranges from 12.5 million sterling pounds to 13 billion sterling pounds. This claim is utterly false and laughable, for  the amounts mentioned are only in the imagination of the reporters. This property is quite popular. It belongs to a well-known eminently successful Nigerian entrepreneur who would also find this allegation embarrassing as the intention to sell the property has neither been contemplated nor disclosed to any person.

It is worthy to note that despite all the frenzy over Mrs. Diezani Madueke, not even one reporter or journalist has tried to contact the family to verify any of the rumors they have published with reckless abandon. This may be because they know the stories are false but it feeds the mood of the moment. Hence, the silence from Diezani all along. It is worth emphasising that Mrs Alison-Madueke was never arrested or detained and her passport was never seized. She was merely invited, and she honoured it promptly.

11.               The Madueke family, like most other families, have their own challenges. For instance, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke has been receiving treatment for cancer in the UK which started while she was in office. The health crisis has unfortunately exacerbated in recent times. She completed months of chemotherapy just last week and she is scheduled to undergo surgery next week in London. The family has been bearing this challenge with prayers and as much grace and fortitude as possible; and would plead with all reasonable Nigerians to pray for her recovery so that she can face this allegation and give account of her stewardship. Yes, she can—and very well, too.

12.               The Madueke and Agama families would want the decent public to know that neither Ugonna nor Somze or Abiye or anyone related to the two families was picked up or arrested or invited for questioning by anybody whatsoever. Ugonna’s father (the Rear Admiral) has been in Lagos and working in his office. The lies about his having travelled with a team of lawyers should please stop. The Madueke family has taken a decision on how to appropriately deal with those who are on a mission to soil their hard earned family name.

Sunday Oliseh, the bumbling Super Eagles coach by Aderonke Bello

I have said it over and again, Oliseh is not the right choice for the Super eagles job. So far the NFF said he is what they want, then, so be it!

Some weeks ago in Abuja, the Nigeria Football Federation appointed Sunday Oliseh, who does not have enough technical clue about coaching, he has however never been able to coach a top team in the history of his coaching career, and has obviously waited on the shelf for good seven years to get the eagles job.

Safe to say, his appointment was controversial because it lacks due process.

It is no longer news that he obtained the UEFA license coaching certificate, rather he is renowned for his excellent TV analysis and punditry which necessarily does not amount to good coaching and man-management, on-field techniques amongst others.

It was widely reported that Oliseh called the security operatives in Belgium to get Vincent Enyeama out of the eagles camp, the legendary goalkeeper was ridiculed, Vincent is not a perfect human being like the rest of us but, no one deserves such treatment. He is the captain for God’s sake. What on earth was Oliseh thinking? This is just ridiculous. History will not forget him for the drama in far away Belgium.

The coach who is using the Super Eagles to test run his coaching career disgraced the most capped player in the history of Nigerian football, Oliseh record cannot touch Enyeama’s record in Nigeria.

Unfortunately, the NFF, renowned for swift press releases to deny issues has refused to make any comment on the saga.

POLITICS

Going through the social media, some Nigerians were of the opinion that Ahmed Musa's appointment is political because the Nigerian president is from the Northern part of the nation, why would anyone think about that, like really? That is a dumb thing to say, and on the other hand, Musa is a great guy and lucky to be made a captain in a space of just three years with the team.

I recall, Enyeama had an issue with the NFF’s disciplinary committee some weeks ago when he refused to yield their invitation to the committee for making comments about the team’s safety in Kaduna during the first leg of the 2017 cup of nations qualifier against Chad. Since then, he has been in hot soup and a target, it is an obvious pay back time and some people are using Oliseh to do their beat.

How wise can Oliseh get? No one should be treated that way, not even your dog. This is a low blow coming from Oliseh, his leadership skill is questionable, Nigerians should get set to see more of this coach who has temperament issues, as we all know him to be since his playing days. Enyeama could be rebellious too, but it takes a leader to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the people working under him and manage them well. How did Oliseh feel when he was booted out of the team and he missed the Korea/Japan world cup?

Retirement
I don't believe in Vincent Enyeama retiring, he cannot leave like that after his 13 years dedication to motherland. Carl Ikeme is the new messiah and you feel Enyeama is useless all of sudden, whatever happens to Austin Ejide who deserves to be part of the team. Oliseh is not what we need, he lacks the ability and capability, his leadership skills and man-management is not good for chasing one of the greatest in the super eagles out in that manner. Federal government, human right activists and Nigerians should rise and fight this injustice.

The goalkeeper lost his mother and a single message did not come from the NFF to share their condolence suddenly the picture of NFF President was sent out in a press release when he attended Enyeama's mother's burial, he has done a great job isnt it? shaking my head. Do we call that, hypocrisy? Oliseh said he did not inform him when his mother died, haba!!! We are talking about his mother here, to add salt to his injuries, and despite burying his mum just last weekend he went to camp and this happened. Enyeama please go home and mourn your mum. Work on yourself as well and I hope to see you back in the team, your instagram message on retirement as far as I am concerned is null and void.

Enyeama is still part of the team, as I conclude, I expect the NFF in their wisdom to wade in, it will be hypocritical of them to be mute at this stage

'At 101, my husband is still a tiger in bed' says his 95year old wife

Madala Lumnkile Heleni, who claims to be 101, from Motherwell NU10 in Port Elizabeth, SA and his wife Gogo Bekiwe (95), were on Wednesday, October 7, honoured by mayor Danny Jordaan to celebrate the Day of the Elderly. Lumnike Heleni, who has been married to his wife Bekiwe for 66 years, told Daily Sun SA in a recorded interview that the secret to his manhood being able to stay strong was bathing with cold water since his youth days.

"When I graduated from initiation school at the age of 32, the elders told me to bath in the river. The water was icy because it was winter and since then, I’ve always bathed in cold water because it makes me feel fresh." Heleni told the paper.

His wife, Gogo Bekiwe said the father of six, grandfather of 15 and great-grandfather of 16 was still a tiger in bed.

"The cold water makes my manhood very strong. It never fails and in my house there is always peace." Madala also attributed his long life to healthy diet. "I don’t know what diabetes or high blood pressure is. I’ve only been to the doctor twice in my life for back pain. I only get sick if I wash with warm water, which makes me feel weak and tired. I grew up on a farm near Grahamstown and worked there. I still have my own garden and eat traditional food and vegetables. We have been happily married for 66 years now. We only eat samp, umphokoqo and a little bit of meat."

Gogo Bekiwe added. "We only use salt for taste. We don’t like food with cooking oil or too much sugar."
