The Flying Eagles returned to Abuja from Accra on Thursday having featured in two friendly warm-ups against the Black Satellites. The 2-0 win came on the back of a previous 2-2 draw in the capital city on Monday.
Centre-back Zaharadeen Bello is another injury concern for the African Youth Championship-bound Eagles. He missed the friendly win over Ghana through a calf injury.
Yahaya, who scored in the 2-2 draw in Accra, did not participate during a gym session at the Fifa Goal Project in Abuja on Friday morning.
“We will review their cases and see what can be done promptly,” team doctor Ozi Salami disclosed.
In the meantime, coach Manu Garba has maintained his team still need to correct few “lapses” noticed during the test matches against Ghana this week.
“We hope to be ready when we have picked the final squad of 21 players for the African Youth Championship (AYC) and have worked on some of the grey areas we noticed in Ghana,” said the Fifa U-17 World Cup-winning coach.
“We therefore hope to soon begin our training camp in Gambia so we could concentrate on some of the lapses we saw in the team.”
Nigeria will play hosts Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire and Congo in Group A in the AYC. The 2015 AYC begins on March 8 in Dakar.
