Atiku Under Pressure To Dump APC For PDP

With a few weeks to the presidential elections, some leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are reportedly putting pressure on former vice president Atiku Abubakar to dump the All Progressives Congress (APC) and support President Goodluck Jonathan’s re-election bid.
Reports have it that he is also under pressure from his supporters in the APC, who felt shortchanged after he failed to realise his ambition of emerging as the APC presidential candidate.
Those who are making moves to woo Atiku are of the belief that he is nursing a grudge against leaders of the party as he has not been participating actively in the campaigns of the APC, and so might accept a return to the PDP.
Though the former vice president has not yet committed to those mounting pressure on him, he is said to have not opposed the planned defection of his supporters, who feel cheated in the APC.
Meanwhile, the leadership of the APC are reportedly worried over Atiku’s lack of involvement in Buhari’s campaign, and recently sent the director general of Muhammadu Buhari’s presidential campaign organisation and governor of Rivers state, Rotimi Amaechi, to seek a rapprochement.
