Peter Okoye, 2face, Basketmouth, Omotola, others to walk against kidney disease with Emma Ugolee

It is no longer news that former broadcaster, Emmanuel Ugolee has in the last 3years been battling with Chronic kidney disease. This ailment is of a terminal kind and needs at the least, a bi-weekly treatment called haemodialysis and eventual kidney transplantation for survival.

Knowing the pains of the disease, Mr Ugolee has been quite passionate about its sensitization and degree of awareness. Its causes, symptoms, effects, treatment as well as precautionary action against it, Its many misconceptions and general public consciousness of a disease.

As part of a bigger plan to play his part in fighting the disease, Emma Ugolee has initiated a celebrity walk in Lagos to raise awareness on Kidney disease. Simply tagged “walk against kidney disease”, the 2hour walk on the streets of Victoria island, Lagos would parade Nigeria’s most celebrated show business personalities in solidarity not just for Emmanuel who many of them hold quite dear but for a worthy course of fighting a disease that is on the increase.

Many have moved all appointments away to make room for the work on their calendar. As at the time of writing this, Peter Okoye, Jimmy Jatt, Omotola, Timaya, Sound Sultan, Uti Nwachukwu, Waje, Desmond Eliot, AY, Bovi, Julius Agwu, Basket Mouth, Praiz, Tuface, Monalisa Chinda,Olamide, Chioma Chukwuka, Ramsey Noah, Ebuka Obi Uchenndu had all confirmed presence.

Emmanuel very clearly stated that the walk in not a fund raiser for himself or any other individual, “it is solely for the singular aim of generating buzz and public awareness for kidney disease with the use of well-meaning celebrity faces ” he said when asked what the eventual aim for the exercise was. Cool TV, AIT, Channels and NTA would cover the walk while those at home can call in on a live radio show on cool fm to speak to the celebrity participants.

A nephrology consultant would also be around to take on more technical questions concerning the disease. Call time being 8am, at no 267a Etim Iyang cresent, Victoria Island. The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Police and Medical teams we hear, are ready for a smooth running of the walk on the 21st of March 2015.

Here is wishing them a successful generation of the right awareness
